NCRC Fatal Dog Attack Investigative Reports
While fatal dog attacks are vanishingly rare, they often attract highly visible news coverage that may be inaccurate or misleading.
For more than 2 decades, the NCRC has investigated fatal dog attacks and the circumstances surrounding them.
While no one can account for all the factors that may have played a part in the tragic cases of fatal dog attacks, the NCRC investigates each incident in order to obtain the most accurate information from official sources.
Recent cases (2009) are not available at this time, as many cases remain as open investigations for some time after the date of the incident. They will be made available after official sources are able to release information on the case.
While the NCRC recognizes that dogs contribute much to our lives, the volume and scope of misinformation about fatal dog attacks that now saturates the internet, prompts us to address the statistically insignificant number of dogs that inflict fatal injuries.
If one truly believes that the extremely rare cases of fatal dog attacks merit extreme measures in the management of dogs–if one’s concern is genuine—then one must be equally genuine in seeking out and addressing the real factors that contributed to these tragic cases.
