Do Pit bulls inflict injuries unlike other breeds?

Photographs of Fatal Dog Bite Injuries

What if one saw the fatal injuries?  Then could a person identify the breed/type of dog involved?

If you have arrived at this page inadvertently, we apologize. It is unfortunate, but we feel  that a small sample of such graphic and tragic photos is necessary to dispel the widely accepted claim that pit bulls inflict injuries unlike other breeds/types of dogs.

Out of respect for the privacy of the victims and their families,  we have only selected photographs that show no  identifying features of victims,  yet provide a clear view of the fatal injuries:

Adult:  Multiple dogs of same breed/type inflicted fatal injuries on victim picture above and inflicted fatal injuries on a second victim (photo not shown)

Adult:  Injuries inflicted by a single dog

Child:  Injuries inflicted by a single dog

Adult:  Injuries (neck) inflicted by a single dog

With the exception of the first photo, all the above injuries were inflicted by a single dog. We have included the first because all the dogs were of similiar appearance (one of the breeds/types listed below) and the attack involved the death of two victims (an adult and a 10-year-old).

The breeds/types of dogs which inflicted the fatal injuries depicted above are:

  • Mixed breed (medium-sized, long hair – no predominant breed)
  • Labrador/husky mix
  • Schnauzer mix
  • Pit bull
  • Dachshund
  • German shepherd
